Varicose Veins Explained
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins, usually in the legs, caused by weak or damaged valves inside the veins. When the valves stop closing properly, blood flows backward and pools in the leg veins instead of returning to the heart. This condition is called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), and it is the most common cause of varicose veins, leg swelling and aching.

Symptoms
